I noticed Ashley's poem one day as I walked down the school hallway. Outside her classroom pinned to the board were her words written in black and pink marker atop white and pink paper. My lips parted and drew back into a large smile as I read what she had to say,
Cupcakes have music in them
Up on the shelf
Chocolate and Vanilla
Awesome to look at
Killer good to eat
Elegant icing on the top
Sweet to eat
The buzz of childhood can be addictive.
With energetic little beings constantly around it's easy to daydream of long summer holidays, candy commas, ice cream headaches, early morning cartoons, dancing in the rain and the eternal glow of optimism.
More so, I am constantly inspired. Inspired to watch, listen and learn what these little people have to contribute to our big people world. Because sometime it's as simple as "cupcakes have music in them".
Thank you Ashley for making me fall in love with cupcakes again or at least give them another chance.
